Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

The manuscript is original, has not been published previously and is not under consideration by another journal.
The submission fits the IKR aims and scope and states its information-science question and contribution clearly.
A separate title page and an anonymized manuscript have been prepared for double-blind review.
Users, collections, institutions, systems, standards, datasets, instruments and analytical methods are described sufficiently for assessment.
Ethics approval, consent, privacy, patron confidentiality, accessibility, licences and institutional permissions are addressed where applicable.
Funding, competing interests, author contributions, data and code availability and AI-tool use are disclosed where applicable.

Author Guidelines

Authors should read the aims and scope before submission. Manuscripts must be original, clearly written and not under review elsewhere.

Information science reporting

State the research question, setting, population or collection, conceptual framework and contribution. Describe sampling, instruments, systems, datasets, metadata standards, retrieval methods, interfaces and analyses in sufficient detail. Report limitations, accessibility considerations and the organizational or community context.

Studies involving people and institutions

User studies, surveys, interviews, usability testing, learning analytics and research using identifiable records require appropriate ethics review and informed consent where applicable. Protect patron confidentiality, intellectual freedom, privacy and vulnerable communities. Do not disclose sensitive search, circulation, location or institutional data without lawful authorization.

Data, systems and reproducibility

Include a Data Availability Statement. Deposit anonymized data, instruments, code, metadata schemas, queries, configurations and documentation where lawful and ethical. Identify software versions, standards, repositories, licences and access restrictions.

Review files

Provide a separate title page and anonymized manuscript for double-blind review. Disclose funding, competing interests, author contributions and material use of generative AI.

Submission status

Online submissions are temporarily closed while IKR completes its editorial setup.

Privacy Statement

Information and Knowledge Review (IKR) respects the privacy of authors, reviewers, editors, readers, research participants and registered users. The journal may collect names, affiliations, contact details, ORCID iDs, account information, submission and review records, correspondence and technical logs needed to operate and secure the journal.

Use and confidentiality

Information is used to manage editorial work, publish accepted articles and metadata, maintain the scholarly record and meet ethical or legal obligations. Access to non-public material is limited to authorized people who require it for journal operations.

Research information

Authors must remove personal or sensitive information that they are not authorized to publish. Patron records, search histories, circulation data, interview transcripts, institutional analytics and identifiable user data must be handled according to consent, ethics, professional confidentiality and applicable law.

Sharing, retention and security

IKR does not sell personal information. Limited data may be processed by hosting, DOI, indexing, preservation, email or security services required to run the journal. Editorial records may be retained to document decisions and preserve research integrity. Privacy questions should be sent to the official contact address.
