Authors should read the aims and scope before submission. Manuscripts must be original, clearly written and not under review elsewhere.
State the economic question, theoretical or institutional setting, population, data sources, sample construction and empirical strategy. Define variables, units, transformations and exclusions. Report model specifications, identifying assumptions, diagnostics, uncertainty, robustness checks and economically meaningful effect sizes. Causal claims require a credible identification strategy and discussion of threats to validity.
Include a Data and Code Availability Statement. Deposit analysis code, documentation, derived data and replication instructions in a stable repository where licences and confidentiality permit. Explain access restrictions and provide a route for qualified verification when microdata cannot be public.
Research involving experiments, surveys, interventions, administrative microdata or identifiable persons must report appropriate ethics review, consent, privacy safeguards, preregistration where applicable and any material risks or conflicts.
Provide a separate title page and anonymized manuscript for double-blind review. Disclose funding, competing interests, author contributions and material use of generative AI.
Online submissions are temporarily closed while JAEI completes its editorial setup.
