Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The manuscript is original, has not been published previously and is not under consideration by another journal.
  • The submission fits the MPR aims and scope and states its physical question and contribution clearly.
  • A separate title page and an anonymized manuscript have been prepared for double-blind review.
  • Theory, apparatus, calibration, controls, uncertainty, simulations and limitations are reported sufficiently for assessment where applicable.
  • Data, code, software versions, facility information, licences and reproducibility details are provided or restrictions are explained.
  • Funding, competing interests, author contributions, safety or ethics approvals and material AI-tool use are disclosed where applicable.

Author Guidelines

Authors should read the aims and scope before submission. Manuscripts must be original, clearly written and not under review elsewhere.

Article types

  • Original research articles
  • Review and perspective articles
  • Experimental and instrumentation papers
  • Theoretical and computational physics papers
  • Methods, technical notes and short communications

Scientific reporting

State the physical question, assumptions, methods and contribution precisely. Distinguish established results from new findings. Report uncertainty, calibration, controls, boundary conditions and limitations, and do not claim more than the evidence supports.

Experimental and computational methods

Describe apparatus, materials, detectors, calibration, acquisition, preprocessing, simulations, numerical methods, parameter choices, hardware and software sufficiently for assessment. Report safety, ethics and facility approvals where applicable.

Data, code and reproducibility

Include a Data and Code Availability Statement. Deposit data, code, analysis scripts, simulation inputs and reproducibility instructions in a stable repository where possible. Identify versions, licences and justified access restrictions.

Review files

Provide a separate title page and anonymized manuscript for double-blind review. Disclose funding, competing interests, author contributions and material use of generative AI.
