Fieldwork Ethics, Permits and Community Responsibility

Authors must comply with legal and institutional requirements for field access, sampling, protected areas, cultural and geological heritage, and the collection, export or transfer of specimens.

Work on Indigenous lands or using community and traditional knowledge should be based on appropriate consultation and consent, respect data sovereignty and attribution, and explain benefit-sharing where relevant. Sensitive locations should not be disclosed when publication could enable damage, theft or exploitation.
