Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

The manuscript is original, has not been published previously and is not under consideration by another journal.
The submission fits the GLCS aims and scope and states the biological question and contribution clearly.
A separate title page and an anonymized manuscript have been prepared for double-blind review.
Organisms, materials, controls, replication, methods and statistical analyses are reported sufficiently for assessment.
Ethics approvals, collection permits, biosafety requirements, funding, competing interests, author contributions and AI-tool use are disclosed where applicable.
Data, code, sequences, specimens and biological materials are deposited or made available as required, with accession numbers and lawful restrictions stated.

Author Guidelines

Authors should read the aims and scope before submission. Manuscripts must be original, clearly written and not under review elsewhere.

Language and communication reporting

State the research question, linguistic or communication context, theoretical framework and contribution. Identify languages and varieties precisely, including community-preferred names where applicable. Describe speakers or participants, corpora, recordings, texts, platforms, sampling, elicitation, transcription, annotation, coding and analysis in sufficient detail. Define glossing, transcription and translation conventions.

Ethics and community responsibility

Research involving people, voices, images, private communication or identifiable online material requires appropriate ethics review and informed consent. Language documentation and work with Indigenous, minoritized or endangered-language communities should address community authority, cultural restrictions, data sovereignty, attribution, access conditions and benefit.

Data and resources

Include a Data Availability Statement. Deposit recordings, transcripts, corpora, annotations, instruments, code and documentation where permissions allow. Explain restrictions involving speaker privacy, sacred or culturally sensitive knowledge, copyright, platform terms or risk of re-identification.

Review files

Provide a separate title page and anonymized manuscript for double-blind review. Disclose funding, competing interests, author contributions and material use of generative AI.

Submission status

Online submissions are temporarily closed while GLCS completes its editorial setup.

Privacy Statement

Global Journal of Language and Communication Studies (GLCS) respects the privacy of authors, reviewers, editors, readers, research participants and registered users. The journal may collect names, affiliations, contact details, ORCID iDs, account information, submission and review records, correspondence and technical logs needed to operate and secure the journal.

Use and confidentiality

Information is used to manage editorial work, publish accepted articles and metadata, maintain the scholarly record and meet ethical or legal obligations. Access to non-public material is limited to authorized people who require it for journal operations.

Research information

Authors must remove personal or sensitive information that they are not authorized to publish. Human-participant data, precise locations of threatened species and other restricted biological information must be handled according to consent, ethics, conservation and legal requirements.

Sharing, retention and security

GLCS does not sell personal information. Limited data may be processed by hosting, DOI, indexing, preservation, email or security services required to run the journal. Editorial records may be retained to document decisions and preserve research integrity. Privacy questions should be sent to the official contact address.
