Research Ethics, Learner Protection and Safeguarding

Research involving learners, educators or other people requires appropriate ethics review and informed consent. Children and participants with reduced autonomy require age-appropriate assent, parental or guardian consent where applicable, privacy safeguards and protection from coercion.

Authors should explain recruitment, incentives, power relationships, safeguarding, confidentiality and handling of educational records. Research must not disadvantage participants or expose identifiable learner performance, disability, behaviour or institutional information.
