Fieldwork Ethics, Permits and Community Responsibility

Authors must obtain the permits, land-access authorization, ethics approval and informed consent required for fieldwork. Studies involving protected areas, wildlife, genetic resources, Indigenous or local knowledge, interviews or community participation must identify the relevant approvals and safeguards.

Research should minimize disturbance, follow biosafety and environmental-health requirements, respect cultural protocols and address fair attribution or benefit sharing where appropriate. Sensitive site and species information must not be disclosed when publication could increase harm.
