Author Guidelines

Authors should read the aims and scope before submission. Manuscripts must be original, clearly written and not under review elsewhere.

Article types

  • Original research articles
  • Critical and interpretive essays
  • Systematic and state-of-the-question reviews
  • Formal, experimental or interdisciplinary philosophy
  • Translations with substantial scholarly introduction
  • Discussion notes, replies and short communications

Argument and contribution

State the central question, thesis and contribution early. Define key terms, make inferential steps visible, distinguish premises from conclusions, address serious objections and avoid claiming more than the argument establishes. Thought experiments and examples should do clear analytical work rather than substitute for reasons.

Texts and traditions

Identify editions, passages and translations accurately. Explain interpretive choices and historical context. Work across philosophical traditions should engage relevant languages and scholarship where feasible, avoid treating traditions as uniform, and distinguish comparison from assimilation.

Formal and empirical material

Define notation and assumptions. Provide proofs, derivations, code, instruments, data and analysis details where applicable. Research involving participants, surveys, experiments or interviews requires appropriate ethics review, consent and privacy safeguards.

Review files

Provide a separate title page and anonymized manuscript for double-blind review. Disclose funding, competing interests, author contributions and material use of generative AI.
