Author Guidelines
Authors should read the aims and scope before submission. Manuscripts must be original, clearly written and not under review elsewhere.
Article types
- Original research articles
- Review and synthesis articles
- GIS, remote-sensing and spatial-methods papers
- Field, survey and ethnographic studies
- Regional, planning and policy analyses
- Data papers, research notes and short communications
Geographical research
State the geographical question, study area, scale and contribution clearly. Explain why the selected place, region, population, period or spatial resolution is appropriate. Distinguish observation from interpretation and avoid generalizing beyond the evidence.
Maps and spatial methods
Maps should include a readable legend, scale, orientation where relevant, coordinate reference system, data sources and date. Report projection, spatial and temporal resolution, classification, geocoding, sampling, positional accuracy, processing steps, validation and uncertainty. Use accurate and respectful place names, boundaries and labels.
Fieldwork, communities and sensitive places
Report permits, ethics approval, land-access authorization and informed consent where applicable. Research involving interviews, communities, Indigenous or local knowledge, private property, vulnerable populations or culturally significant places must respect privacy, safety, cultural protocols and fair attribution. Withhold precise coordinates when disclosure could cause harm.
Data and declarations
Include statements on data availability, funding, competing interests, author contributions and material use of generative AI. Identify software and versions used for spatial analysis.
Review files
Provide a separate title page and anonymized manuscript for double-blind review.
