Maps, Geospatial Data and Place Representation

Maps must identify data sources and dates and provide an appropriate legend, scale, coordinate reference system and orientation. Authors should explain projection, resolution, classification, geocoding, boundary choices, positional accuracy and processing steps.

Place names and territorial representations should be accurate, contextualized and respectful. Generalize or restrict coordinates for vulnerable people, sacred places, threatened species, archaeological sites, private properties or security-sensitive facilities.
