Creative Works, Media and Permissions

Authors must have the right to submit and publish every image, text extract, score, script, recording, still, artwork or other creative work included with a manuscript.

Identification and credit

Identify the creator, title, date, medium, performer, photographer, translator, collection, venue or source where relevant. Captions and credits should follow the rights holder's requirements.

Permissions

Obtain written permission for third-party material unless publication is already permitted by law or licence. Authors are responsible for fees and for documenting any limit on reproduction or reuse.

Performance and recording rights

Audio, video and performance documentation may require consent from performers, producers, venues, communities or collecting institutions in addition to copyright permission.

Image and media integrity

Editing must not misrepresent the work or documentary record. Composite, reconstructed, staged or AI-generated media must be labelled clearly.
