Aims & Scope

Global Animal Research (GAR) is an English-language, online-only journal for research that improves understanding of animals and supports responsible veterinary care, animal welfare, production, management and conservation.

Aims

GAR provides a scholarly record for scientifically sound animal and veterinary research. It welcomes work from laboratories, farms, clinics, communities and natural environments when the research question is clear, the methods are appropriate and the conclusions are supported by the evidence.

Scope

• Animal health, disease, diagnostics, treatment and prevention
• Veterinary medicine, surgery, clinical practice and epidemiology
• Nutrition, physiology, reproduction, genetics and breeding
• Animal behaviour, welfare, housing and management
• Livestock and sustainable animal-production systems
• Wildlife health, conservation and human-animal-environment relationships
• One Health research with a clear animal or veterinary component

Article types

GAR considers original research articles, review articles, short communications, veterinary case reports or case series, and methods or technical articles.

Out of scope

GAR does not consider work that lacks a clear connection to animal or veterinary science, uses unverifiable or unlawfully obtained data, reports animal research without required ethical oversight, or makes conclusions that are not supported by the methods and results.
