Digital Preservation and Backups

GAR treats published articles, issue files, metadata, corrections and retraction notices as part of the scholarly record.

Current backup arrangement

The publisher maintains recoverable copies of the OJS database, private submission files, published files, website configuration and theme assets. Backup files are checked for integrity. An independent off-site copy and restoration testing form part of the production-readiness process.

External preservation

GAR intends to use the PKP Preservation Network when the journal is eligible and the service has been installed, accepted and verified. GAR does not currently claim active participation in PKP PN, LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, Portico or another external preservation network.

Repository deposit

Authors may deposit the published version of their article in an institutional or subject repository, personal academic website or other lawful scholarly service, with the complete citation and a link to the version of record.

Website closure or migration

If the journal changes platform or domain, the publisher will preserve article files and metadata and will make reasonable efforts to maintain redirects. Published material will not be silently removed. Any correction, expression of concern or retraction will remain linked to the affected article.
