Heritage and Archaeological Discoveries (HAD) is a peer-reviewed journal for archaeology and heritage research. It brings together studies of sites, landscapes, objects, buildings, archives and scientific evidence where the work makes a clear contribution to knowledge of the past or to the responsible care of heritage.
The journal considers excavation and survey reports when they move beyond description and address a defined research question. It also publishes laboratory and dating studies, material-culture research, historical and maritime archaeology, bioarchaeology, conservation science, museum and collections research, digital archaeology and work on heritage practice and policy.
Editors check each submission for relevance, the quality of its evidence, ethical and legal compliance, and the clarity of its argument. Papers that pass this stage are reviewed anonymously by specialists. Publication depends on the manuscript, the reviewers’ reports and the authors’ response.
HAD is an open-access journal. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0), unless a different notice is displayed on the article.
