Aims & Scope

Aim

JASF provides a publication forum for work in which established scientific principles are applied, tested or extended in response to a practical question. The journal is particularly interested in studies that combine careful analysis with usable methods, devices, processes, models or datasets.

Areas covered

  • Applied physics and chemistry: photonics, surfaces, electrochemistry, analytical methods and application-led physical or chemical studies.
  • Materials science: synthesis, characterization and performance of metals, polymers, ceramics, composites, coatings, biomaterials and nanomaterials.
  • Engineering: mechanical, civil, electrical, electronic, chemical, industrial, biomedical and systems engineering.
  • Computing: scientific computing, data analysis, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, signal processing and decision-support systems.
  • Energy and environment: renewable energy, storage, efficiency, monitoring, remediation, water and air treatment, waste recovery and sustainable design.
  • Biotechnology and biomedical applications: biosensors, diagnostics, bioprocessing, bioinformatics and translational laboratory methods.
  • Instrumentation and manufacturing: sensors, measurement, imaging, robotics, automation, control, advanced manufacturing and process improvement.

Interdisciplinary submissions are welcome when the applied contribution is clear. Papers consisting only of routine measurements, a minor parameter change or an unsupported design proposal may be declined during editorial screening.
