Plagiarism and Originality

Submissions to JASF must be original and properly acknowledge earlier work. Text, ideas, data, figures, tables, code and methods taken from another source must be cited and, where necessary, used with permission.

The editorial office may use similarity-detection software. A numerical similarity score is not treated as a decision; the editor examines the source, extent and context of the matching material.

Substantial unattributed copying, close paraphrase, duplicate publication, fabricated citations or undisclosed reuse of an author’s own published material may lead to rejection. If a serious problem is found after publication, the journal may publish a correction, expression of concern or retraction after giving the authors an opportunity to respond.
