Peer Review Policy

JASF uses double-blind peer review: authors do not receive the reviewers’ identities, and reviewers are not shown the authors’ identities during assessment.

Editorial screening

An editor first checks whether the paper fits the journal, is complete enough to review and raises no immediate concern about originality, ethics or reporting. A paper may be declined at this stage when it is outside the scope, methodologically inadequate or not ready for review.

External review

A suitable research or review paper is normally sent to at least two reviewers with relevant expertise. Reviewers are asked to comment on the research question, method, analysis, interpretation and presentation. They must keep the manuscript confidential and disclose any conflict that could affect their judgement.

Decision

The possible outcomes are acceptance, minor revision, major revision, resubmission for a new review, or rejection. Authors who revise a paper should answer the reviewers point by point. The handling editor makes the decision after considering the reports and the authors’ response; reviewer recommendations are advisory.

There is no guaranteed review period. The editorial office will monitor delayed reports and keep authors informed when a review takes substantially longer than expected.
