Authorship and Contributions

Authorship is reserved for people who made a substantial contribution to the conception, observations, analysis, software, interpretation or writing; approved the submitted version; and accept responsibility for the work.

Large collaborations should apply a documented authorship policy and explain group attribution. Technical staff, observatory personnel, data curators and others who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged with their permission.

The corresponding author must provide a contribution statement, confirm that all authors agree to submission and disclose any requested authorship change. AI tools cannot be authors.
