ASAS expects accurate reporting, fair attribution, independent review and responsible stewardship of the scientific record.
Authors must submit original work, describe methods and uncertainties honestly, disclose funding and competing interests, credit data facilities and software, and correct significant errors. Fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, duplicate publication, manipulated evidence and false attribution are unacceptable.
Editors assess manuscripts on scientific merit and relevance. Reviewers must give constructive, confidential and unbiased advice and disclose conflicts. Unpublished ideas or results must not be used for personal advantage.
Credible concerns are assessed using the manuscript record, underlying evidence and responses from affected parties. The journal may publish a correction, expression of concern or retraction when needed.
