Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The manuscript is original, has not been published previously and is not under consideration by another journal.
  • The submission fits the ASAS aims and scope and identifies the scientific question and contribution clearly.
  • A separate title page and an anonymized manuscript have been prepared for double-blind review.
  • Observations, simulations, software, instruments and statistical methods are described sufficiently for assessment.
  • Data and code availability, funding, competing interests, author contributions and AI-tool use are disclosed where applicable.
  • Figures, tables, units, coordinates, object names and references follow accepted astronomical conventions, and permissions are supplied for third-party material.

Author Guidelines

Authors should read the aims and scope before preparing a submission. A manuscript must be original, approved by all authors and not under consideration by another journal.

Types of paper

  • Research article: a full observational, theoretical, computational or experimental study.
  • Review article: a critical synthesis that explains its coverage and selection method.
  • Methods or instrumentation paper: a validated technique, instrument, pipeline or calibration with clear scientific use.
  • Technical report or mission study: a focused account of a facility, mission, survey or engineering result with broader relevance.
  • Short communication: a concise report of a significant result or method.

Files for double-blind review

Submit a separate title page and anonymized manuscript. The title page should include author names, affiliations, corresponding-author details, ORCID iDs where available, funding, competing interests and author contributions. Remove identifying details from the review file and its document properties.

Scientific reporting

State the research question, observations or simulations, sample selection, calibration, uncertainty treatment, software and statistical method. Give coordinate systems, epochs, time standards, units and object identifiers where relevant. Conclusions must remain within the limits of the evidence.

Data, software and images

Include a Data and Code Availability Statement. Cite archives, catalogues, software and data releases with persistent identifiers where available. Explain any lawful restriction on access. Image processing should be documented when it affects scientific interpretation; composites and representative-colour images must be labelled.

Authorship and AI

Authorship is limited to people who made a substantial contribution, approved the submitted version and accept responsibility for the work. AI tools cannot be authors. Material use of generative AI in writing, coding, analysis or image preparation must be disclosed.

Privacy Statement

Advances in Space and Astronomical Sciences (ASAS) respects the privacy of authors, reviewers, editors, readers and registered users. The journal may collect names, affiliations, contact details, ORCID iDs, account information, submission and review records, correspondence and technical logs needed to operate and secure the journal.

How information is used

Information is used to manage editorial work, communicate with contributors, publish accepted articles and metadata, maintain the scholarly record and meet legal or ethical obligations. Access to non-public material is limited to authorized editors, reviewers, administrators and technical providers who require it for journal operations.

Public record and retention

Author names, affiliations, ORCID iDs and article metadata may become part of the permanent public record. Editorial and publication records may be retained to document decisions and preserve research integrity.

Sharing and security

ASAS does not sell personal information. Limited data may be processed by hosting, DOI, indexing, preservation, email or security services required to run the journal. Reasonable safeguards are used, but no online system can guarantee absolute security. Privacy questions should be sent to the official editorial-office address on the Contact page.
