Performance Ethics, Communities and Consent

Research involving performers, audiences, students, interviews, workshops, rehearsals, observation or community knowledge requires appropriate ethics review and informed consent where applicable.

Authors must respect performer autonomy, privacy, safety, labour and attribution. Research with Indigenous, traditional, sacred or community-based practices must follow relevant cultural protocols, collective permissions and restrictions on recording, circulation or disclosure. Public performance does not remove all ethical obligations.
