MPAR expects honest scholarship, fair attribution, independent review and respect for the people, communities and creative work represented in arts and cultural research.
Authors must submit original work, represent sources and methods accurately, disclose funding and competing interests, obtain required consent and permissions, and correct significant errors. Fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, duplicate publication, unauthorized media use and deceptive manipulation are unacceptable.
Authors should address context, power and attribution when working with community, Indigenous, traditional, sacred or vulnerable cultural material. Cultural appropriation concerns must be treated seriously and specifically.
Editors assess manuscripts on scholarly merit and relevance. Reviewers must provide constructive, confidential and unbiased advice and disclose conflicts. Unpublished ideas, creative work and research material must not be used for personal advantage.
Credible concerns are assessed using available records and responses from affected parties. The journal may publish a correction, expression of concern or retraction when needed to maintain an accurate record.
