Aims & Scope

GJAI publishes original work that improves understanding of how buildings, public spaces and settlements are conceived, made, used, evaluated and adapted.

Areas of interest

  • Architectural design, theory, criticism and design research
  • Urban design, planning, housing, public space and regional development
  • Building technology, materials, structures, construction and fabrication
  • Environmental performance, climate-responsive design and building services
  • Digital design, computation, simulation, BIM and emerging modes of practice
  • Heritage conservation, adaptive reuse and architectural history
  • Post-occupancy evaluation, accessibility, health, safety and user experience
  • Professional practice, pedagogy, policy and interdisciplinary built-environment research

A manuscript should offer a clear question, appropriate method and evidence, and conclusions that matter beyond a single project. Promotional project descriptions and undocumented design claims are outside the journal's scope.
